10 Ways to Make Money from the Comfort of Your Own Home

There is an incredible amount of money to be made online. Whether you are looking to make a little extra side money or a full-time income, it can happen from your computer in your home. Most of these opportunities offer the flexibility of time and location so that you can work from anywhere, at any time, with relatively small businesses expenses.
Here are some of the most interesting options I’ve found.

1. Create a blog

You can make a substantial income from home with your own blog. Your income can come from advertising, sponsorships, partnerships, e-courses, e-books, reviews and more.
Blogs can be on topics ranging from finance, beauty, sports, pets, and beyond. Create a blog with a strong following and you’ve created the potential for steady income.
You can create your own blog with my easy step-by-step 15-minute tutorial. You can start your blog for as low as $3.49 per month.  If you sign-up through my tutorial you’ll also get a free domain name.

2. Become an online consultant

Are you an expert on any particular subject? Or at least know more than the average person about something? Maybe you have completed a certain type of project very successfully.
Consider offering consulting services online.
You will likely need a computer, phone, and the internet. You can choose how and when your services are offered. Will you answer live calls? Respond to email? Host video chats with clients?

3. Sell products online

Think of all the things you buy online. Someone, or some company, is collecting that money. You may sell crafts or other items you make. Etsy is a great site for selling homemade and custom items.
Another option is buying used items from a resale or thrift store and then selling them on a site like eBay. Products sold online may stem from another venture. For instance, if you have a successful blog, you can sell e-courses or e-books to your followers that want more from you.

4. Give your opinion

I know that this sounds too good to be true. But some companies actually will pay you for your opinion. You can do this on your schedule and wherever you have access to your computer or phone. Some reputable companies to check out are Survey JunkieSwagbucksOneOpinionProOpinionInbox DollarsPaidSurveysOpinion OutpostVIP VoiceAmerican Consumer OpinionPinecone ResearchYouGov, Clear Voice SurveysSurvey ClubPrize RebelSurvey Spot, and Harris Poll.
I suggest you take a few minutes and sign up for all of them.  You won’t know which one is the perfect fit for you unless you check them all out.
Tip: If the company asks you to pay them to join, it’s likely a scam. There are plenty of other opportunities out there.

5. Work customer service from home

Working customer service involves helping customers either by phone or through online chats. You may be answering questions, troubleshooting technical difficulties, or explaining options depending on the company. A background in customer service is likely to be helpful, as well as an abundance of patience. Customers are often already frustrated when they call customer service, and it’s your job to help resolve the issue. You should be friendly, a good listener, and able to remain calm.

6. Become a freelance writer

For those that enjoy writing, becoming a freelance writer is a great option. You will need a laptop, an internet connection, and someone to hire you. To be hired as a freelance writer, you will likely need some experience. One way to get started is with your own blog. Learn more about creating a blog here.
Once you establish a relationship with a website, you will usually email the article to someone in their office or post them on the website yourself.

7. Become a virtual assistant

Virtual assistants are a growing trend. There are a variety of tasks that people may hire virtual assistants to complete. You may be asked to read and reply to emails or comments on a blog. You could be responsible for collecting data online and assisting with presentations. Anything done online could be contracted out to a virtual assistant.
Virtual assistants may be hired to work on one project or for an extended amount of time to assist with regular business and tasks.

8. Technical freelancing

For those of you with technical skills, freelancing may be the answer. There are plenty of people who need graphics, web programming, and much more, but lack the time or knowledge to do it themselves. Unlike consulting, you would do the actual tasks yourself. Freelancing might be better for people who don’t want to run their own business and have the ability to turn down work you don’t want to do.
Some sites that can help match you with companies needing these services are:

9. Tutoring

Tutoring may occur in your home or online. You may have students come to your home, or simply be available by video chat or even phone, depending on the subject matter.
Tutors are needed for a variety of levels and subjects. It may simply be homework help for elementary students whose parents work late (or have forgotten math they haven’t used in awhile) or test preparation for college students. Rates will vary depending on level, subject area, and method of communication.

10. Data Entry

For those with quick typing skills looking for a simple task, data entry may be the answer. Sites like Upwork and Craigslist usually have a variety of data entry and administrative jobs available. Some of these are ongoing while others consist of one project.
This list is far from exhaustive but is a great place to start. There are hundreds of ways to make money from your computer, in the real comfort of your home.
